奈良晒 （Nara Zarashi)
“Nara Zarashi” is luxury textile made of hemp. It is produced all by hand of craftsman.
Since “Nara Zarashi” had been applied as an official products of Tokugawa government in Edo period, it is used as luxury present for an important events. It is said that almost 90% of the resident in Nara had related with “Nara Karachi” industry at that time.
Picture scrolls are one of the main usage of “Nara Karachi” It is luxury present and people received this present is very glad. You can understand why people is so glad once you touch the product and learn the feel of the material. Mass production will never be able to produce the same feeling.
Thread are produced by a plant “hemp”. Thread are classified by those strength. Various kinds of hemp thread will be required to produce “Nara Karashi”.
Each thread are weave into cloth by using traditional weaving machine. Of course, every procedure are rendered by hands of craftsman.
“Nara Zarashi” is used in various application. It is never same with other materials. It is sure that people have it love the same.
