大平山(Oohira san) / 栃木 (Tochigi)

Oohira san is a mountain whose height is 341m. It is not high but you can enjoy panorama viewing all over the Kanto plain.

The view point is called as 謙信平 (Kenshin-Daira) because 上杉謙信 (Kenshin Uesugi), who is famous Samurai in Sengoku Period, was surprised with  vastness of the Kanto Plain when he saw the view at the first time. Since most of the land of Japan is the mountain district, he had not imagined there was such a vast plain in Japan.

You can enjoy the road to Kenshin-Daira.

At the top of Oohira-san, There is 大平山神社 (Oohira san Shrine).

Almost 1000 steps from 六角堂 to 大平山神社.

At the foot of the mountain, There is 大中寺 (Daichu temple).
