平城宮 (Heijo-kyu) / 奈良 (Nara)
”平城京” was capital city in Japan established D.C. 710. The above picture is “大極殿(Daigoku-den)” which was rebuilt in 2010 for 1300years memorial event.
44 numbers of round red color columns in 0.7 diameter supporting 27 meter height of “大極殿”.
You can see huge ground from “大極殿”。In Nara era (D.C. 710-784), it was the biggest building and used for receptions and ceremonies.
You can imagine that emperor had great power in Nara era.
What the biggest problem to reconstruct was that even photograph was not exist for images. Therefore, “大極殿” was reproduced using historical literatures and documents and “法隆寺” and “薬師寺” which is still exist since it had built in Nara era.
As is widely known, the capital city of Japan moved to Kyoto in D.C.784 and then moved to Tokyo in D.C. 1869.
